Siobhan Freeney, Patient Advocate Founder of Beingdense.com at Being Dense, shared on LinkedIn:
“Very encouraging to hear from several Women who had Mammograms in St Vincent’s Private Hospital who were subsequently advised about their Personal Breast Density and offered supplemental imaging.
This week Health Service Executive issued ‘urgent advice‘ about Breast Cancer signs, symptoms and risk factors. However this advice made no mention of ‘why Breast Density matters and how important it is for Women to know if they have Dense Breasts’.
Breast Cancer doesn’t discriminate. One in Seven women will develop Breast Cancer.
Whether you attend privately or publicly for your Mammogram – ALL WOMEN should be appropriately notified when their Mammogram indicates that they have Dense Breasts.
Telling any Woman who has Dense Breasts that her Mammogram is clear, is Incomplete Information.
Equitable Breast Cancer Screening and Reporting Protocols are important for all Women who have Mammograms in Ireland.
This Public Petition calls for Standardised Breast Density Reporting – We ask that you support our Campaign by adding your name and sharing the Petition with other Women and their families.”
