Society for Integrative Oncology – SIO shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Behind every great clinician is a network of mentors, leaders, and peers who shape their vision and guide their growth.
In Part 5 of our interview, Dr. Tabarak Qassim (Resident Doctor at Cambridge University Hospitals, UK, and Co-Chair of the SIO Education SIG) asks Dr. Santhosshi Narayanan (Clinical Associate Professor at the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center) about the mentors and key influences who have inspired her work in Integrative Oncology over the years.
Dr. Narayanan shares insights into the professional relationships, pioneering figures, and collaborative communities—including the Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO)—that have profoundly influenced her approach to whole-person care.
Some of the people mentioned include, but are not limited to:
- Eduardo Bruera
- Lorenzo Cohen
- Gabriel Lopez
- Meroë Morse
- Konstantina Stylianou
- Judith Lacey
- Santosh Rao —including a special, warm shoutout to Dr. Santosh Rao. Dr. Rao played a pivotal role in helping Dr. Narayanan establish the SIO Ayurveda Special Interest Group (SIG). In a beautiful full-circle moment of mentorship, Dr. Rao was also the person who first introduced Dr. Qassim to the SIO back in 2023 when she was still a medical student!
Explore the new Comprehensive Integrative Oncology textbook where Dr. Narayanan and Dr. Qassim contributed to Chapters 37 and 54 respectively.”
