Silvana Adelina Gheorghe: Empowering Patients Through Onkogai’d at the ARIPI Conference

Silvana Adelina Gheorghe, Medical Oncologist at the Institute of Oncology ‘Prof. Dr. Al. Trestioreanu’ Bucharest , shared a post on LinkedIn:

“My Onkogai’d project has been a dream for several years. It is a way to give back to the community where I strive to create real impact as an oncologist, and to share the tools that have shaped my own emotional healing and personal growth.

Onkogai’d is my vision of Lifestyle Oncology: a space where clear medical guidance meets emotional resilience, helping patients feel stronger, informed, and truly supported.

I am currently enrolled in the Advanced Certificate in Lifestyle Oncology with the European School of Lifestyle Oncology (ESLO) and will soon begin my professional training in Compassionate Inquiry (CI), with the goal of integrating evidence-based medicine, lifestyle interventions, and compassionate care in oncology.

One of the first concrete steps toward this dream was bringing together, alongside my colleagues from ARCOF (Romanian Association for Women’s Cancer Research), almost 150 participants for a full day of education, compassion, and connection.

I wanted the ARIPI Conference (“Aripi” means “Wings” in Romanian) to become more than a conference: a safe space where science meets humanity.

We spoke about surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, adverse reactions, radiotherapy, dermatologic toxicities, nutrition, mental health, movement, sleep, spiritual resources, and digital tools, all guided by one purpose: helping patients live better, not just longer. Every session was designed to guide patients beyond the diagnosis and toward real quality of life.

One of the most impactful moments for me was the short meditation session that I guided, when the entire room fell into silence, some with eyes closed, breathing together. A simple reminder that healing often begins with presence.

I am deeply grateful to all my speaker colleagues who offered not only expertise, but also heart. And to the dedicated organizing team behind the scenes (Prof. Assoc. Dr. Dana Stănculeanu and Dr. Elena Iovănescu) whose support made this event possible. Last but not least, I would like to thank our sponsors and partners who believed in this vision and helped bring ARIPI to life.

This is just the beginning. I will continue to build resources for patients and create webinars, tools, and supportive spaces where knowledge, resilience, and hope come together. The next steps are already taking shape. Stay tuned.”
