Please consider giving for this important cause and help young people with a cancer diagnosis find community, strength, and hope.
AYAs Take Chicago 2026 – An Empowering Experience for Young Adults Impacted by Cancer

About the Event.
Now in its fifth year, AYAs Take Chicago is a vibrant gathering for people who were diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 15 and 39, regardless of their current age. This free annual event offers a rare, affirming space for AYAs, caregivers, and supporters to connect, reflect, and celebrate life beyond the clinical setting. Co-hosted by Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center (Rush Copley) and Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, the event blends storytelling, peer connection, creative expression, and joy.
AYAs Take Chicago is powered by a wide-reaching collaboration of hospitals, nonprofits, and survivor-led organizations, including:
- Advocate Health, Rush University, Northwestern Medicine, University of Chicago, and UIC
- National and regional leaders like Blood Cancer United, Stupid Cancer, Twist Out Cancer, American Cancer Society, Gilda’s Club Chicago, Cancer Wellness Center, Living Well, Waterford Place and Wellness House
- Survivor- and peer-driven communities such as Young and a Survivor, Connecting Champions, and Cancer Survivorship Center
This cross-institutional collaboration represents one of the most comprehensive AYA partnerships in Illinois—ensuring every voice is heard and every participant is deeply supported.
We’re seeking to raise $50,000 to keep the event free, accessible, and inclusive for 250+ participants. All contributions are tax-deductible through our fiscal sponsor, Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley.”
