Evidence-informed intervention and robust implementation have been the determinants of the successful HPV vaccination journey in Armenia. And, increasing number of girls in Armenia continue to receive the benefits of HPV vaccine, year after year.

  •  Understanding the reasons of low coverage: Concerns around HPV vaccine safety
  •  Misinformation and vaccine hesitancy amongst the public and healthcare workers
  •  Capacity building of the healthcare providers by multidisciplinary specialists including gynecologists, oncologists, infectious disease specialists, epidemiologists, and immunologists enhance trust on vaccine and vaccine-safety information and confidence of healthcare providers in recommending HPV vaccination
  •  Targeted engagement of subnational authorities

    Yes, Armenia has some path to travel to achieve and sustain 90% HPV vaccination rates amongst 15-year-old girls and it will need a combination of initiatives. But this real-setting intervention in Armenia demonstrates that “Objective understanding of low acceptance of health interventions” and “Locally-Tailored intervention” are powerful determinants of local impact.”
