Shushan Hovsepyan: Padova’s Lessons – From 1594 to Modern Oncology Education

Shushan Hovsepyan, Editor-in-Chief of OncoDaily Medical Journal and Co-Chair of the International Society of Pediatric Oncology Global Health Network Research and Innovation Working Group, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I was in Padova this week as faculty for the European School of Oncology Learning to Care seminar. The sessions were great, but what stayed with me was something I only learned by chance.

Padova is home to the first anatomical theatre in the world, built in 1594 at the university. The story itself is incredible — a tiny wooden space where students stood in steep circles, watching dissections by candlelight. No technology, no imaging… just people trying to understand the human body in the most direct way possible.

You suddenly realise how long this path has been, and how many people before us tried to make sense of the same questions we’re still trying to answer today in different way.”
