Shushan Hovsepyan: Absolute Honor of Speaking at the UNGA Side Event

Shushan Hovsepyan, Editor-in-Chief of OncoDaily Medical Journal and Co-Chair of the International Society of Pediatric Oncology Global Health Network Research and Innovation Working Group, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“New York. UNGA80. What a week.

I had the absolute honor of speaking at the United Nations General Assembly side event, hosted by the International Society of Paediatric Oncology – SIOP and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, sharing the challenges that young pediatric oncologists face in LMICs.

Childhood cancer was, for the first time in history, placed on the highest political stage through the 4th High-Level Meeting on NCDs. A tremendous milestone!

The week was busy — full of inspiring meetings.

From the launch of the Bloomberg New Economy International Cancer Coalition

…to the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) meeting, where partnership and collaboration were at the heart of every discussion.

I also sneaked into the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center clinic of Dr. Yelena Janjigian, always such a joy to see her, learn from her, and be inspired by her passion!.

I met so many familiar faces and new colleagues, all driven by the same mission.

This week proved one thing: childhood cancer is no longer left in the shadows — it is finally on the global agenda.

The recognition is historic, but now comes the real work: turning visibility into action and action into better outcomes for children everywhere.

Thank you everyone and especially Gevorg Tamamyan!!!”
