Shreyas Kalantri, Hematology and Oncology Chief Fellow at the University of Louisville, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Last week marked the end of my Hematology/Oncology fellowship and the close of a deeply meaningful chapter.
When I first came to Louisville, I did not know exactly what to expect. Over the last three years, this city and this program became a place where I grew, evolved, learned, and found community.
I started fellowship feeling like I knew very little. I still do not have all the answers, but I leave with a better sense of what I know, what I do not know, and how to keep learning.
More than anything, fellowship taught me that there is no single perfect way to care for patients. I learned by watching many different physicians bring their own style, judgment, and humanity to the same goal: doing the best we can for the people who trust us with their care.
Along the way, I also found joy in research in a way I did not expect. What once felt intimidating became a way to ask better questions, solve problems, and contribute to the field in my own small way.
I am deeply grateful to the mentors, colleagues, patients, and friends who shaped this chapter, and to my family back in India, who supported me through every step from afar.
I leave fellowship with gratitude, confidence, and a little bit of Louisville that I will carry with me wherever I go.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.”
