“7 TEDx stages.
And I still get nervous. People often assume that confidence comes from experience. In my experience, that’s not entirely true. The butterflies never completely disappear. The fear never vanishes overnight. What changes is where your focus goes.
Early in my speaking journey, I worried about myself.
- Would I remember everything?
- Would I perform well?
- Would people like what I had to say?
Today, the nerves are still there. But they are no longer about me. They are about the person sitting in the audience who may need encouragement. The caregiver searching for strength. The survivor looking for hope. The individual facing a challenge they never expected. That shift changes everything.
When speaking becomes service rather than performance, fear loses much of its power.

And for anyone who feels nervous before a presentation, interview, meeting, or life-changing moment:
- Don’t focus on being impressive.
- Focus on being useful.
The rest usually takes care of itself.”
