Shrenik Shah: Every Stage Feels Like the First Time I Found My Voice Again

Shrenik Shah, Patient Ambassador and Moderator of Fridays with Shrenik Live webinar at the Indian Cancer Society, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“7th TEDx.

And still, every stage feels like the first time I found my voice again.

It’s been 28 years since I lost my natural voice.
Not metaphorically. Literally.

Back then, silence wasn’t poetic.
It was frightening.

Doctors told me, ‘Life will have to shrink now.’
Well-wishers said, ‘Speaking career ended.’

But life has its own sense of humour.

Somehow, the voice I lost found a new way to return through a bionic sound, through conviction, and through a purpose that refused to stay quiet.

And last week, when I held this TEDx Narayana Business School memento, I didn’t think of the award. I thought of the road that brought me here, slow steps, strange detours, and a belief that courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes it whispers and still moves mountains.

Along this path, I’ve also been fortunate to create history as the first Vocal Cord Cancer survivor to speak on a Josh Talks stage, and now to deliver my 7th TEDx talk.

Students walked up to me and said, ‘Sir, if you can do this without vocal cords, what should we make an excuse for?’

The truth is, we all begin from some kind of silence.

Mine was physical.

Yours might be fear, doubt, or a voice people refused to hear.

But silence is never the end.
It’s the beginning of a different kind of sound.

Thank you, TEDx Narayana Business School, for honouring not just a speaker, but a journey.

The story continues.”
