Shrenik Shah, Patient Ambassador and Moderator of Fridays with Shrenik Live Webinar at the Indian Cancer Society, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“On 10th September, I was at the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi) event, speaking about a topic that still makes many of us uncomfortable – suicide.
The theme was simple: You are never alone. Or as we say in Gujarati, ‘Tame Ekla Nathi‘.
One line. But the weight it carries is immense.
- Because loneliness doesn’t always look like someone sitting in an empty room.
- It can be someone laughing the loudest in the crowd.
- It can be someone dressed in the brightest colours during Navratri.
And today, as Navratri begins, I can’t help but see the connection.
Nine nights where we celebrate Shakti, the power of women.
But strength is not only about defeating demons in a story.
It’s also about standing beside someone when their inner battles feel heavier than they can carry.
What I’ve learned, both from that event and from life:
Festivals give us community, but we must extend that spirit beyond the dance floor.
Strength is not only in fighting your own battles, but in saying, ‘I am here for you’.
Sometimes the most courageous act is admitting you feel alone, and the most humane response is listening without judgement.
So as the garba beats start tonight, here’s a thought: Let the rhythm remind us that nobody should dance through life’s struggles alone.
Reach out. Stand close.
Remind someone – Tame Ekla Nathi.”
