Shrenik Shah: Life After Cancer – 10,228 days of Resilience and Purpose
Shrenik Shah, Patient Ambassador and Moderator of Fridays with Shrenik Live webinar at the Indian Cancer Society, posted on LinkedIn:
”10,228 days.
That’s how long I’ve been living as a Stage IV vocal cord cancer survivor.
Today, I step into my 29th year since the diagnosis.
When I look back, I don’t see a straight line of victories. I see a winding road filled with hospital corridors, painful silences, moments of doubt, and tears I never thought would end.
I also see something else:
1. The first time I stood in front of a crowd without my natural voice, terrified, but I spoke anyway.
2. The countless people who became my teachers, friends, and confidants along the way.
3. The moments when strangers became family, simply because they chose to stand by me.
Surviving cancer wasn’t just about fighting the disease. It was about rediscovering life.
+ I lost my voice but found my purpose.
+ I lost certainty but found resilience.
+ I lost many dreams but built new ones, stronger, louder, and larger than I could’ve imagined.
10,228 days later, I’m still here.
Not just surviving, but living, speaking, mentoring, and giving back.
If you ask me what keeps me going, it’s simple, gratitude. For every breath, every stage, every person who believed in me when I couldn’t believe in myself.
The story isn’t about cancer. The story is about life after it.”
