Shrenik Shah: From an Award to a Lifetime of Community Impact
Shrenik Shah, Patient Ambassador and Moderator of Fridays with Shrenik Live webinar at the Indian Cancer Society, posted on LinkedIn:
“In 2021, something unforgettable happened.
Out of 21,000+ global nominations, I was named the WEGOHealth (now Health Union) Award winner in the Patient Leader Hero category.
Out of the 5 global finalists, I stood as the only Indian, carrying not just my story, but the voice of so many who believe in the power of community.
That moment was more than an award.
It was a reminder that building safe spaces, connecting people, and giving them hope is work that truly matters.
And now, in 2025 I find myself here again. Nominated once more.
The emotions are different this time. Back then, it was disbelief and joy. Today, it feels like gratitude and responsibility.
Gratitude, because this recognition is never about one person. It’s about every patient, survivor, caregiver, and ally who has walked this journey with me.
Responsibility, because every nomination is a reminder that there’s still so much to do and so many lives we can touch.
Whether I win again or not, this journey has already given me more than I could ask for: a community that refuses to give up.
Because awards recognize, but communities transform.”
