Shenaaz El-Halabi: Better Data, Stronger Health Workforce Decisions for Africa

Shenaaz El-Halabi, Country Office Representative at World Health Organization South Africa, shared on LinkedIn:

“It was an honor to welcome Member States, Africa CDC, WHO colleagues, academia and partners to the 2026 Joint Annual Technical Review and Planning Meeting on the Health Workforce in South Africa.

Health workers remain the backbone of every health system.

Stronger National Health Workforce Accounts can improve data quality and workforce visibility.

Better evidence can inform smarter policy, planning and sustainable investment.

Peer learning and collective problem-solving can help countries tackle shared challenges.

My message was simple: strong data strengthens strong decisions. I am encouraged by the commitment across the Region to turn evidence into action for Africa’s health workers and communities, as we work together towards.”
