Mika Amram: Historic First for Sheba Addressing a Rare Genetic Disorder

Mika Amram, Director of Global Patient Services at Sheba Medical Center-Tel Hashomer, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Recently, our team at Sheba had the profound privilege of administering a personalized RNA therapy to an 8-year-old girl with a rare genetic disorder, GNAO1.

This marks a historic first in Israel and places Sheba among a very select few medical centers worldwide to achieve this. Creating a custom drug for a single patient is the very definition of precision medicine, and it fills me with awe for our dedicated team, including Dr. Dan Dominissini, Director of the Diagnostics Division and Vice Chair of Research and Development; Dr. Nofar Mor, Head of the RNA Therapy Research Group; Prof. Gidi Rechavi, Director of the Cancer Research Center; and Prof. Bruria Ben-Zeev, together with a multidisciplinary team of leading researchers and physicians.”
