Shane Jacobson: Ensuring No Cancer Patient Faces the Burden of Housing During Treatment

Shane Jacobson, Chief Executive Officer of the American Cancer Society (ACS) and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Tonight, we gathered for a simple idea with a big impact: when cancer forces someone far from home, they shouldn’t have to carry the extra burden of finding and affording a place to stay.

Since opening in 2007, American Cancer Society Hope Lodge NYC has supported more than 33,000 patients and caregivers with more than 361,000 free nights—relief that adds up to real stability for families who need to stay close to treatment.

Grateful to share the stage with an incredible group tonight. Thank you to the other speakers and everyone who helped bring this program to life. Special thanks to Bristol Myers Squibb (Chris Boerner, Adam Lenkowsky, Amanda Poole, Nathan Pennell, Monica Shaw, and Peter S. Paine III) as our title sponsor, and congratulations again to Tania Small, and John J. Manna, Jr., Esq. on well-deserved honors.

At Hope Lodge, hope really does begin with something that feels like home.”
