Shabnam Gujadhur, Medical Doctor at Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service, Lecturer at Griffith University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I am so humbled and deeply emotional to share this moment.
Thank you to the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition for this recognition and for the incredible work you do to ensure no woman is left behind.
Being named a recipient of the 2025 Impact Award is an honour that I will carry with me always.
Thank you to Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF), Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group (ANZGOG) Survivors Teaching Students, Mother’s Day Classic Foundation, Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service and the many other organisations I’ve been privileged to work with on this advocacy journey. You have given me platforms to share my story, amplify awareness, and turn something deeply painful into purpose.
Receiving this award has been a profoundly emotional reminder of why this advocacy matters. It represents every woman whose symptoms were unheard, every survivor fighting quietly, and every voice pushing for earlier detection, better research, and equity in care.
My deepest gratitude to the judges and to the other awardees — your advocacy inspires me. We are stronger together, and together we will continue working towards a future where ovarian cancer is a disease of the past.”
