“Throwback to one of yesterday’s sessions at EHA 2026 before diving into today’s activities.
Day 1 in Stockholm was already packed with incredible discussions, but there was one session I simply couldn’t miss in Pediatric Hematology.
Anyone who knows me knows how much I’ve always loved pediatric oncology and hematology. For the longest time, many people were convinced that pediatric oncology would be the path I’d eventually take. While my journey has led me more toward adult oncology, my interest in the pediatric field has never really faded, which is why I find myself drawn to these sessions every chance I get.
One of the highlights was the discussion on CAR-T cell therapy in children with high-risk B-cell ALL who remain MRD-positive after consolidation. The data showing durable remissions with very low rates of severe CRS and ICANS was particularly striking, along with the possibility that some patients may avoid stem cell transplantation altogether.
Another fascinating topic was the timing of stem cell transplantation in pediatric AML. The study suggested that once MRD negativity is achieved, proceeding earlier to transplant may be just as effective as giving additional chemotherapy cycles, which could have important implications for reducing treatment burden.”
