Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), shared a post on X:
“As America celebrates 250 years of independence, the Trump Administration is working to restore one of our most fundamental freedoms: the freedom that comes with being healthy.
This Independence Day, Take Back Your Health. Eat Real Food. Get Active.
Join us in building a stronger, healthier nation. Together, let’s Make America Healthy Again.”
“Hi, I’m Robert F. Kennedy Jr., your HHS Secretary.
This Fourth of July, we celebrate 250 years of American independence and the enduring strength of the American people. The men and women who built this nation understood a simple truth: a strong nation depends on strong people.
As we celebrate our independence, we also have to confront the greatest threat to American strength: the chronic disease epidemic. We spend more on healthcare than any nation in history, yet millions of Americans are sicker than ever before.
When my uncle was president, we spent zero dollars on chronic disease. Today, we spend $1.3 trillion every year. Nearly 80% of adults don’t get enough physical activity. More than one in three American teenagers are overweight. And 77% of our young people cannot qualify for military service.
This crisis touches every part of American life. It burdens our families, it weakens our economy, it threatens our military readiness, and it puts our future at risk.
A healthy person has a thousand dreams, but a sick person has only one.
Under President Trump’s leadership, we’re reversing course. We are putting prevention back at the center of healthcare. We are challenging the failed status quo. We are shifting our focus from sick care to healthcare. We’re confronting the root causes of chronic disease. We are rebuilding trust in our food, in our medical and public health systems. And we are putting American children and families first.
The Trump Administration is restoring one of our most fundamental freedoms: the freedom that comes with good health.
Every American has a role to play. Take back your health. Eat real food. Get active. Spend time outdoors. Build healthy habits, because a healthy nation is a strong nation. And a strong nation is the foundation of freedom.
And together, we can Make America Healthy Again.
Happy Fourth of July.”
