Saro Armenian, Director of the Division of Outcomes Research, Department of Population Sciences, Director of the Center for Survivorship and Outcomes, Hematologic Malignancies Institute, and Barron Hilton Chair and Professor of Pediatrics, Department of Pediatrics at City of Hope, shared a post on LinkedIn by Kristin Bertell, Chief Philanthropy Officer at City of Hope, adding:
“We were so honored to welcome our longtime partners at Hyundai Hope on Wheels back to City of Hope. Since 2017, their unwavering commitment to our research at City of Hope has fueled discoveries that are transforming the lives of children and young adults with cancer.
We are deeply grateful for their continued investment in our mission, particularly their support for early-career scientists and vital programs such as our Childhood and Adolescent/Young Adult Cancer Survivorship Program. These efforts ensure that breakthroughs in cancer treatment are matched by equally strong advances in survivorship care, giving every child not only hope for a cure but the opportunity for a healthy and fulfilling life after cancer.
A heartfelt thank you to John Guastaferro, CFRE, and the entire Hyundai Hope on Wheels team for their vision, partnership, and belief in what’s possible when philanthropy and purpose come together. Seeing our patients, families, and even therapy dogs leave their colorful handprints alongside their doctors was a powerful reminder that progress in pediatric cancer is built, quite literally, hand in hand.
Together, we are driving forward discoveries that will help ensure a brighter, healthier future for every child touched by cancer.”
Quoting Kristin Bertell’s post:
“Here at City of Hope, I am often reminded how much progress can be made when philanthropy and purpose come together.
Recently, we welcomed our partner, Hyundai Hope on Wheels to City of Hope, where we celebrated Dr. Saro Armenian, recipient of the 2025 Impact Award, whose work in pediatric cancer is transforming care for children and their families.
My deepest thanks to John Guastaferro and the Hyundai Hope on Wheels team for their extraordinary commitment to our mission. And a heartfelt thank you to patient speaker Jaylon Fong and his father Francis, as well as the many children who joined us to leave colorful handprints – alongside their doctors – as symbols of courage and hope. Even our therapy dogs joined in the celebration.
Together, we are driving discoveries that give children with cancer the brighter, healthier futures they deserve.”
