Sarah Sammons, Breast Medical Oncologist and Senior Physician at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, shared a post on X by Akiko Chiba, Associate Professor of Surgery at Duke University School of Medicine, adding:
“Excellent topic that we were discussing in clinic today.
I do offer MRI screening added to mammogram in breast cancer survivors who are gene carriers, very young, and those with very dense breasts. I discuss false positive risk.”
Quoting Akiko Chiba’s post:
“Excellent overview of screening after breast cancer by AnnaWeiss.
- Annual mammo after BCS (no utility of more frequent imaging)
- Supplemental MR for high risk
- No routine screening after mastectomy.”
