Sarah Harding Fellowship to Advance Breast Cancer Prevention – Manchester Cancer Research Centre

Manchester Cancer Research Centre shared a post on LinkedIn:

A new research fellowship, created in memory of Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding, is aiming to stop breast cancer before it starts.

Funded by The Christie Charity through the Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal, Hannah Harrison has been appointed as the Sarah Harding Young Women’s Breast Cancer Fellow.

Based in the Manchester Breast Centre, a key organisation in the Manchester Cancer Research Centre, Dr Harrison will spearhead an ambitious research programme to reduce breast cancer incidence by developing innovative prevention strategies for those at risk.

This builds on the BCAN-RAY (Breast Cancer Risk Assessment in Younger Women) study, which aims to identify younger women at higher risk. So far, 750 women have been recruited, with 140 found to be at increased risk and offered personalised support.

The BCAN-RAY (Breast Cancer Risk Assessment in Younger Women) study began in May 2023 and is led by Dr Sacha Howell from The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, and The University of Manchester.”
