Santiago Fontes: New ASCO Data Supports Individualized Neoadjuvant Approach in Colon Cancer

Santiago Fontes, Medical Oncologist, Immuno-Oncology Specialist, shared a post on LinkedIn:

Important data from ASCO 2026 Poster session
Age alone should not exclude patients from a neoadjuvant strategy in locally advanced colon cancer.

The FOxTROT analysis demonstrates that 6 weeks of pre-operative chemotherapy in elderly and frail patients is feasible, safe, and associated with perioperative outcomes comparable to upfront surgery. Importantly, the findings suggest that older patients may derive particular benefit from a neoadjuvant approach, given the lower likelihood of receiving postoperative chemotherapy.

Another step toward a more individualized, fitness-based approach to colon cancer care.”
