Samra Turajlić, Director at CRUK Manchester Institute, shared Justin Loke’s, Institute Fellow CRUK Manchester Institute and Honorary Consultant Haematologist at The Christiepost, post on LinkedIn, adding:
“Our colleague Justin Loke is looking for a Senior Scientific Officer to join his new group at the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute .
Justin is an outstanding clinician-scientist with an exciting research programme focused on AML and MDS, tackling unanswered questions in still hard-to-conquer cancers. His work will have a significant impact on both our understanding of disease biology and the development of new treatments.
Joining Justin’s team means you’ll benefit from excellent support for your own professional development, both within the group and across the institute. At the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute , we place a high value on the critical contributions of scientific officers, and they’re central to our research success and impact.
Details on how to apply below.”
Quoting Justin Loke’s post:
“We’re hiring!
Senior Scientific Officer.
Blood cancers like AML and MDS are rarely driven by a single mutation – which makes them so hard to treat. My group at the CRUK Manchester Institute is working to change that, and I’m looking for a Senior Scientific Officer to join us at the bench.
Using CRISPR genome editing, we recreate real patient mutation combinations in the lab – building the models and working with patient samples that let us pinpoint a disease’s weaknesses and the new treatments that might exploit them.
This is a hands-on role right at the heart of the team. You’d build and run the experimental models the group depends on, and help shape how we tackle problems at the bench – work that feeds directly into projects with real potential to reach patients.
I’m looking for someone with strong laboratory experience – mammalian cell culture, with some in vivo/murine work an advantage. Experience with CRISPR or flow cytometry is welcome, but curiosity and a genuine drive to do meaningful science matter more.
In return: real responsibility, genuine investment in your development, and a front-row seat on translational blood cancer research at a world-leading institute alongside The Christie.
