Samantha Sodergren, Senior Research Fellow at University of Southampton, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper she co-authored published on JAMA Network:
“We are delighted to announce the publication of the EORTC QLQ-AYA30 on behalf of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Group.
The EORTC QLQ-AYA30 is the world’s first comprehensive health-related quality of life (HRQoL) questionnaire specifically designed with and for adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer — capturing what matters most to young people whose lives are uniquely affected by cancer.
This work is the outcome of a decade-long international research programme involving 365 AYAs from across the globe and world-leading experts in AYA oncology, spanning 20 countries — ensuring it is truly representative of diverse cultures and experiences.
The questionnaire has now been published in JAMA Network Open, and has been approved for use by the EORTC QLG for clinical trials, research, and clinical practice.
What’s next?
In 2026, we will be launching our international validation study — to further test the QLQ-AYA30 in larger, diverse populations and accelerate its adoption in global research and care settings.
Huge congratulations to all AYAs and collaborators whose partnership made this possible
We look forward to seeing the impact of this tool in improving patient centered care for AYAs worldwide.”
