Sam Brandon: Discussion on Exercise and Movement in Cancer Care at the Digestive Cancers Europe Masterclass

Sam Brandon, Sales and Operations Director of Peugeot, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Exercise isn’t just good for you – it should be recognised as an essential part of cancer care.

That was one of the biggest takeaways from an inspiring, busy few days at the Digestive Cancers Europe 11th Masterclass, held alongside the ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology Congress in Munich.

It was a real privilege to join an engaging panel discussion on the role of exercise and movement in treatment and recovery alongside Jeffrey Meyerhardt from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute – whose presentation reflected my own lived experience, Petra Thaller from Outdoor Against Cancer and patient advocate Stephen Rowley.

Exercise & movement can improve outcomes, enhance recovery, helping people regain physical and mental strength. Movement is not an optional extra, it’s a fundamental part of holistic cancer care and overall wellbeing.

The DiCE Team practiced what we preached as the event closed with over 400 runners and walkers taking part in a Friday Fun Run – including the lesser spotted running Mirieme Hill.

Importantly a big thank you to everyone who attended – sharing stories, research and their passion for improving outcomes.

A huge thank you to Natasha Stephens Münch PhD, Zorana Maravic and entire DiCE team for the generous invitation and the outstanding organisation throughout the event.”
