Salvatore Provenzano: A Productive First In-Person LATE-AYA Plenary Meeting in Madrid

Salvatore Provenzano, Medical Oncologist at IRCCS National Cancer Institute Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I was delighted to join colleagues in Madrid on 18–19 November for the first in-person LATE-AYA Plenary Meeting – a truly productive and stimulating milestone for this newly launched EU co-funded initiative.

Over two intensive days, all partners worked closely together to align on our shared strategy and priorities. The agenda was rich and energising: from refining study protocols and communication plans to hands-on workshops on the data model, system requirements, and user stories. We also exchanged insights on quality of life, the effectiveness of medical interventions, and the evolving role of QoL tools in clinical practice, alongside discussions on the latest advances in AYA cancer care in Europe.

At the heart of LATE-AYA is a clear mission: supporting Adolescents and Young Adults living beyond cancer. The project aims to develop an AI-driven digital platform that leverages smartphones and wearables to monitor physical, psychological, and social well-being. Through innovative and non-invasive digital interventions, we aim to empower AYAs to better navigate long-term and late effects and to strengthen their path toward healthy, fulfilling lives.

The Madrid meeting laid a solid foundation for the collaborative work ahead. I left inspired, motivated, and confident in the collective expertise of this consortium. I’m honored to coordinate this project alongside Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and excited for what comes next as we continue working to improve everyday life for AYAs living with and beyond cancer.”
