Saida Taukeleva Khamzina: Addressing Drug Supply Challenges and Patient Rights in Kazakhstan

Saida Taukeleva Khamzina, Human rights advocate, Chair of the Union of Patient Organizations of Eurasia, shared a post on Facebook:

“Today, a roundtable discussion on drug supply was held in the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Senator Ainur Serikpayevna Argynbekova chaired the discussion.

Timur Muratov, the heads of the National Center for Expertise of Medicines and Medical Devices, and representatives of regional health departments participated in the discussion.

The topic of drug supply is currently one of the key issues in the healthcare system and is directly linked to the realization of patients’ rights. Therefore, it must be discussed at all levels—with the participation of the government, experts, regions, and the patient community of the Union of Eurasian Patient Organizations.

I would like to emphasize that the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan must propose concrete solutions by January 15. Public expectations are crystal clear: these should not be mere formal responses, but rather working mechanisms that ensure timely and equal access to treatment.

I thank all participants for the substantive and professional dialogue. This topic remains a focus until tangible results are achieved!”
