Sai Kumar Samala, Radiation Oncologist, Research Fellow at UTHealth Houston shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Grateful to share that our Letter to the Editor has been published in JAMA, in response to the randomized trial by Aizer and colleagues comparing stereotactic radiation with hippocampal-avoidance whole-brain radiotherapy for patients with 5-20 brain metastases.
Our letter discusses the real-world implementation of SRS for multiple brain metastases, particularly in settings where MRI surveillance, salvage therapy, neurosurgical access, physics support, and radiotherapy infrastructure may be limited.
As brain metastases care evolves, the key question is not only what works best in clinical trials, but also what can be delivered safely, equitably, and at scale across diverse health care systems.
Thank you to my co-author, Sagar Raut, and to Aizer and colleagues for their thoughtful reply and for advancing this important discussion.”
