“We were deeply saddened by the passing of Robert A. Kyle, founder and first president of the International Myeloma Society.
Dr. Kyle’s research changed how the medical community understands multiple myeloma and the conditions that can precede it. He was also a teacher and mentor whose influence can be seen in generations of clinicians and scientists working in the field today.
From helping convene the first International Myeloma Workshop in 1987 to founding IMS and serving as its first president, Dr. Kyle believed that progress depended on experts working together across borders, with patients always at the center. That commitment to science, collaboration and patient care remains at the heart of IMS.
We extend our deepest condolences to Dr. Kyle’s family, friends, colleagues and the many patients whose lives he touched.
