Thank you to South Carolina Oncology Society (SCOS) for arranging Senator Danny Verdin’s visit to Self Regional Healthcare today.
It was an honor to welcome Senator Verdin to SRH cancer center. We enjoyed sharing how collaboration among oncologists, healthcare leadership, staff, community partners, and policymakers helps bring comprehensive cancer care closer to home—from cardio-oncology and exercise oncology to cancer prevention, early detection, clinical trial, promote health literacy, and survivoship/supportive care
We also discussed priorities for rural cancer care: PBM reform, prior authorization, telehealth, reducing cancer drug waste through safe drug donation/reuse, and supporting oncology workforce training.
‘We care when we are cared for.’ Rural cancer care is stronger when clinicians, healthcare systems, communities, and policymakers work together.
