Ruiling Yuan: Cancer Research and Telehealth Are Not Policy Debates, They Are Lifelines

Ruiling Yuan, Hematologist/Oncologist at Self Regional Healthcare, Adjunct Assistant Professor at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and Medical University of South Carolina, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“For patients in rural communities, cancer research and telehealth are not policy debates, they are lifelines.

As Congress begins the FY 2027 appropriations process, I joined fellow advocates urging lawmakers to prioritize funding for the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute, while protecting and expanding telehealth access.

As a community oncologist serving rural patients in South Carolina, I see every day how federally funded research and telehealth innovation translate into real hope for patients and families.

Grateful for the leadership of Sheri Biggs, Lindsey Graham, and Tim Scott, and to advocate alongside colleagues through the American Society of Clinical Oncology.”
