“Inspired by a beautiful post from Debra Patt, I find myself reflecting on International Women’s Day and the many women who have shaped my journey in oncology and advocacy.
I am incredibly grateful for the mentors and colleagues who have supported and guided me along the way. One person who has had a profound impact on me is Jasmine Kamboj. Through her leadership in cancer advocacy, her work with fellows, domestic and global oncologists, and international medical graduates, as well as her vision through platforms like OncoDaily , Jasmine has empowered and lifted many voices, including mine. Her mentorship reminds me of the power of women supporting and elevating each other.
I am continually inspired by extraordinary women physician leaders in oncology, including Drs. Robin Zon , Julie Gralow , Lynn M Schuchter, Debra Patt, Emily Touloukian, and my dear Lakeland sister, Joanna Metzner-Sadurski.
I also appreciate the many women working tirelessly in advocacy and policy American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) , Zoe Betancourt, Katie Gifford, Jennifer Brunelle, and Janette Merrill, who help amplifying the voices of patients and oncology professionals every day.
Moments like today remind me of the importance of:
- amplifying women’s voices
- mentoring the next generation
- removing barriers to opportunity
- building workplaces where everyone can thrive
I am grateful to stand alongside such inspiring women.”
