Rufus Jesudass: Improving Cancer Outcomes Worldwide Through Access to Cancer Care

Rufus Jesudass, Clinical Research Fellow at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Visiting Clinical Oncologist at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan, Clinical Oncologist at Radiotherapy and Oncology Department, Kuala Lumpur General Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Attended my maiden ASCO 2026 conference – truly an amazing and inspiring experience.

A key and recurring theme was Access to cancer care.

One of the highlights for me was the Presidential Address by Dr. Eric Small on ‘The Science and Practice of Translation: Improving Cancer Outcomes Worldwide.‘ A powerful reminder that innovation in cancer treatment is only meaningful when patients can actually access it.

The phrase that stayed with me: ‘Every patient. Every cancer. Everywhere.’
It resonates deeply — and underscores the significant work that still lies ahead, particularly in global oncology.

Grateful as well for the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and build new friendships along the way. A special thank you to Julie Gralow for taking the time to connect despite a very busy schedule.

Let’s move beyond innovation alone — and actively support efforts that expand access to cancer care globally. Whether through research, policy, training, or partnerships, each of us has a role to play in closing the equity gap.

Energized and motivated to continue contributing to improving cancer care — both locally and globally.”
