“The most useful thing I learned building two cancer tools as a practicing oncologist: I was wrong about which one people would want.
I built the AI tumor board first, because that is my daily frustration.
Paste a de-identified case, an AI panel reasons through it, it matches open clinical trials. Very clinician-brain.
Then I built the patient-facing one almost as an afterthought. Now it has multiple agents each one of the to help patients in one aspect of their health.
Your care team, whenever you need them
The second one is the one that keeps making me uncomfortable, in the productive way.
Because the questions it answers are the ones I do not have time to answer in a twenty minute visit, and the language barrier it removes is one I watch families struggle with every single week.
The lesson for anyone building in health tech: clinicians are excellent at identifying our own friction and mediocre at identifying the patient’s. Those are different products.
