Today marks the launch of the Texas Cancer Interception Institute (TCII), an ambitious new initiative designed to help redefine how cancer is detected and diagnosed.
For decades, medicine has focused on finding cancer for the majority of patients after it becomes visible through traditional imaging. TCII is built on a different vision: identifying cancer signals earlier than ever before, potentially years before conventional approaches detect disease.
Our approach is built on three foundational pillars:
- Population-Scale Cancer Detection Through Circulating Biomarkers:
Leveraging advances in genetics and circulating biomarkers, we are operationalizing state wide blood based cancer detection programs through our primary care service already enrolling tens of thousands of patients bringing the hope of earlier cancer detection to entire populations. - The First Health System Cancer Detection Command Center:
TCII is launching an industry-first cancer command center that will harness advanced artificial intelligence to identify subtle signals from multi-omic data such as radiomics, genomics, clinical and laboratory information, medications, wearable devices, pathology and other data sources that may suggest the earliest stages of cancer development. - Empowering Patients Through Digital Innovation:
Utilizing one of the leading health system smartphone apps in the US myBSWHealth we will place testing, results, and personalized cancer diagnostic journeys directly into the hands of individuals, enabling participation from the comfort of their own home.
