Ronald Chen, Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Kansas Medical Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Radiation is used to cure many different types of cancers.
And we’ve discovered that proton therapy, one form of radiation, has the potential to treat and cure some cancers more accurately with less side effects.
Proton therapy is able to limit the dose of radiation to normal organs while treating cancer.
These technologies are always evolving and the The University of Kansas Cancer Center is a world leader in proton radiation research.
In the next few years, proton therapy will continue to evolve and get better, possibly dramatically changing how we do radiation.
I love being a part of an organization that is driving this research and advancements.
And I’m looking forward to seeing how proton therapy, and radiation therapy overall, improves cancer care in the future.”
