Roberta Ortiz: At Least 60% Survival and One Million Saved Lives by 2030

Roberta Ortiz, Pediatric Oncologist, Medical Officer, Department of NCD and Mental HealthWHO HQ Geneva, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I am very proud to mark another significant milestone in my Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer (GICC) journey with the upcoming launch of WHO’s report: “Measuring survival, driving change-Advancing equity through the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer.”

For the first time, WHO has developed country-comparable childhood cancer survival estimates in close collaboration with Member States. These estimates reflect a unique country-led consultation process that strengthened methodology, data quality, and global partnership.

The report also highlights progress under the GICC, the CureAll framework, showcasing how countries are expanding access to care, strengthening health systems, and improving surveillance and monitoring to advance toward the global target of at least 60% survival and saving one million lives by 2030.

Together, we can turn data into action and accelerate progress for children and adolescents with cancer everywhere. Join us to celebrate this achievement.
