Richard Tillyer: Translating Promising Research Into Potential New Options for Patients at Johnson & Johnson

Richard Tillyer, Head of Discovery, Product Development and Supply at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“At Johnson and Johnson, we’re investing in induced proximity, an innovative approach that brings two proteins together inside the cell to achieve effects conventional medicines often cannot.

I shared my perspective with Nature on where this field is headed, including our acquisition of Halda Therapeutics.

This year marked an important milestone with the FDA approval of the first PROTAC medicine, and more than 30 PROTAC therapeutics are now in clinical trials.

For years, researchers have been looking for compounds that could overcome resistant variants in the androgen receptor pathway. RIPTACs, a next-generation approach to induced proximity, aim to create a lethal interaction in cancer cells while sparing healthy ones.

It’s exciting to see this work advancing across institutions by researchers at Yale, Penn and UT Southwestern, alongside industry. At Johnson & Johnson, we’re committed to translating promising research into potential new options for patients.”
