Richard Rosenquist Brandell։ A Precision Medicine Study for Advanced Cancer Based on Drug Repurposing

Richard Rosenquist Brandell, Director at Genomic Medicine Sweden, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Good news for those of us who work in precision medicine – the government is investing an additional SEK 20 million in Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Västra Götalandsregionen for FOCU.SE – a national precision medicine study for advanced cancer.

‘Through this initiative, we are creating better conditions for individualized cancer treatment. When existing drugs can be tested for new patient groups, we gain important knowledge that can benefit more patients,’ says Minister of Health Elisabet Lann.

FOCU.SE is based on drug repurposing (i.e. testing approved drugs outside of their indication) and is initiated from Testbed Sweden Precision Health Cancer, in collaboration between Vision Zero Cancer / Vision Zero Cancer, Genomic Medicine Sweden (GMS) and SciLifeLab.

FOCU.SE is a platform study that comprises three parts: FOCU.SE Trial, FOCU.SE Explore and FOCU.SE Data.

The study is led by Edvard Abel along with Anders Edsjö, Ebba Hallersjö Hult, Annika Baan, Päivi Östling, Janne Lehtiö, Richard Rosenquist Brandell, Katarzyna Kulbacka, Kristina Sonnevi, Rozina Caridha Lagerhorn, and many more.”
