Richard Rosenquist Brandell, Director at Genomic Medicine Sweden, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Earlier this week, the U.S.–Sweden Cancer Summit was held at Karolinska Institutet. The meeting was opened by State Secretary Michaela Hollis, followed by Birgitta Olsson, who shared her personal experience of receiving cancer treatment in both the United States and Sweden. Thereafter Erik Ullenhag led a conversation with Birgitta Olsson and Ulrika Årehed Kågström.
I had the privilege of participating in a panel discussion on ‘Research Infrastructure and Funding – Enabling Collaboration’, moderated by Åsa Wallin.
Panelists:
Dr. Clifford Hudis, CEO, American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)
Dr. Madeleine Durbeej-Hjalt-Hjält, Secretary General (Medicine & Health), Vetenskapsrådet / Swedish Research Council
Dr. Malin Sund, Chair of Research Committee, Cancerfonden
Dr. LeeAnn Bailey, National Cancer Institute (NCI)
Dr. Richard Rosenquist Brandell, Director, Genomic Medicine Sweden
During the day, we heard insightful presentations on Sweden’s Cancer Strategy and SweCan from Mef Nilbert and Martin Jansson. The program also featured a series of excellent panel discussions representing all perspectives of the pentahelix—patients, healthcare, academia, government agencies, and industry – including Margareta Haag, Elias Arner, Jonas Fuxe, Elham Hedayati, Suzanne Håkansson, Andreas Hörnell, Carl Johan Sundberg and many others.
These discussions highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in advancing cancer prevention, diagnostics, treatment, and research, and underscored the value of strengthening partnerships between Sweden and the US.
The days was excellently moderated by Ylva Källman.”
