St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s 2025 Research Wrap Up

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital shared a post on LinkedIn:

“As the year comes to a close, we are highlighting significant progress made by St. Jude scientists in our 2025 Research Wrap Up. Our second spotlight showcases research that provided crucial insights into the risks posed by pathogens.

This year, St. Jude scientists advanced understanding of emerging and persistent infectious threats by clarifying the limited risk of H5N1 avian influenza transmission from dairy cattle and confirming the safety of pasteurized milk, while highlighting the dangers of unpasteurized products.

Research into antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus identified host-specific virulence mechanisms, informing new avenues for targeted therapeutics. Further studies detailed the clinical burden of respiratory syncytial virus in immunocompromised children and revealed distinct immune responses in infants with severe COVID-19, emphasizing the importance of age-appropriate prevention and treatment strategies for vulnerable patient populations.

These discoveries inform clinical practice and public health, guiding the development of more effective prevention, diagnostic and treatment strategies for infectious diseases.

Swipe to see this year’s major advances in pathogen research.”
