Rebecca Perkins, Coach, Writer and Speaker, Founder of Women Beyond Cancer, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“3rd March is World Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day.
It’s the one I had.
It’s the one someone told me was ‘the really scary one’.
It’s the one that’s considered aggressive.
It’s the one my oncologist told me we’d be ‘hitting fast and hard’. I had no idea what he meant until I did.
It’s the one that lacks all three key receptors (estrogen, progesterone, and HER2)
It’s the one that tends to be diagnosed at a later, more advanced stage.
It’s the one with fewer targeted treatment options.
But
It’s also the one being most actively researched
It’s also the one that will be vaccinated against in the future.
It’s also the one that has seen a wave of new therapies since 2019
It’s also the one where the risk of recurrence drops markedly after the first five years.
It’s also the one where early detection makes a dramatic difference, with a 92.4% five-year survival rate for localised cases.
I’m still here
