Raymond Mailhot: AYA Survivors Have Been Called Difficult to Reach – Our Partnership Approach Changed That

Raymond Mailhot, Associate Professor at University of Miami, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Better late than never: This ASCO, we presented our successful recruitment strategies of survivors of Hodgkin lymphoma who are AYA (adolescents or young adults). For clinical trials, AYA survivors have been previously reported as being ‘difficult to reach.’

Erin Mobley and I were excited to share our successful strategies of recruiting survivors through our partnership efforts with Blood Cancer United, Stupid Cancer, Cactus Cancer Society, and Elephants and Tea! We had folks from 46 states or US territories engage our study page with huge engagement (>50%) of those survivors identifying as AYA.

Our work was even featured with an ‘Early-Onset/AYA Research Shoutout’

Also, it wouldn’t be ASCO without visiting Eric Cooks and Bethany Lilly.

Thanks to our co-investigators for our qualitative arm.”
