Rawia Mohamed: Unusual PDGFRA Alterations in Myxoid Glioneuronal Tumors

Rawia Mohamed, Head of the Anatomical Pathology Department at Burjeel Medical City, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I’m pleased to share one of our recent publications in the Journal of Neuropathology & Experimental Neurology, describing unusual PDGFRA alterations in myxoid glioneuronal tumors, based on cases from three countries, including the UAE and the USA (San Francisco).
This work represents, in our view, the discovery of a previously unrecognized brain tumor entity with unique molecular features, and we believe it may be considered in future WHO classifications.

I was honored to collaborate on this case with Dr. Arie Perry, one of the world’s leading neuropathologists, and I am proud to represent the UAE and Burjeel in such high-impact international academic work.

I would also like to sincerely thank Dr. Rehan and the OncoHelix team for the continuous scientific discussions and collaboration.
Grateful to be part of a system that supports meaningful clinical–molecular research and global collaboration.”
