Rasha Aboelhassan: Advancing Prostate Cancer Care Through Evidence, Access and Sustainability

Rasha Aboelhassan, Senior Oncology Consultant at Nasser Institute Hospital, shared on LinkedIn:

Some professional meetings leave you with new knowledge. Others leave you with a renewed sense of responsibility.

Yesterday’s meeting with experts from the Ministry of Health was one of those meetings for me.

Expert discussions often focus on identifying the best evidence-based treatment and the optimal line of therapy.

But yesterday, we looked at the challenge from a broader perspective: how do we translate the national prostate cancer protocol into meaningful, sustainable care for patients in the real world?

Our experience as oncologists should go beyond choosing the most effective treatment. It should also help us navigate the realities of affordability, access, sustainability, and the balance between clinical benefit and cost.

This is where I believe clinical leadership makes a real difference – not simply knowing what the guidelines recommend, but working together to make high-quality, evidence-based care achievable for more patients.

I was truly honored to be part of this distinguished group of experts from across Egypt. The diversity of experience, perspectives, and expertise made the discussion both challenging and inspiring.

Our goal should always be clear: not only to define the best care, but to help make the best possible care accessible to those who need it most.”
