Randall Kimple: It’s Time to Move on to the Next Step After Nearly Sixteen Unforgettable Years at the UW

Randall Kimple, Professor and Associate Chair for Business and Faculty Development at University of Wisconsin-Madison, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“After nearly sixteen unforgettable years at the University of Wisconsin, it’s time to move on to the next step in my career.

Today marks the last day I will sit in my office overlooking Lake Mendota, the UW campus, and the Wisconsin Capital.

Lab members and valued colleagues joined me last weekend for a final thank you and celebration of my time here. Leaving UW is far from easy. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside colleagues who became collaborators, mentors, and friends. And the trainees – dozens of brilliant, curious, determined students and postbacs – have shaped me just as much as I’ve helped to shape them. Watching them grow into confident scientists and clinicians has been one of the greatest honors of my career.

Together, we’ve pushed science forward, supported one another through challenges, and most importantly – made a real impact on patients and families who trusted us with their care. That is what I will carry with me.

To everyone at UW: thank you for the trust, the laughter, the late‑night experiments, the shared mission, and the belief that we could always do better for our patients.

On Monday June 1, I begin the next phase of my career by stepping into the role of Philip Rubin Professor and Chair of Radiation Oncology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. I’m incredibly excited for the work ahead at URMC and grateful for the foundation UW has given me. Here’s to the next chapter and to the people who helped me get here.”
