Rahul Kumar: Grateful and Happy to be Attending MASCC/ISOO 2026 in Melbourne

Rahul Kumar, Medical Oncology Trainee at AIIMS, New Delhi, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Grateful and happy to be attending MASCC/ISOO 2026 in Melbourne: my second MASCC experience.

It feels exciting to be back in this space, surrounded by people who are deeply committed to supportive care, survivorship, patient-centred oncology, and global collaboration.

As the meeting begins, I feel motivated, inspired, and eager to learn, share, reconnect, and build new collaborations.

Over the next few posts, I’ll be sharing small reflections from my MASCC journey and the lessons I carry from this meeting.”

Rahul Kumar also added:

“Fortunate to receive the MASCC Conference Scholarship Award, making this MASCC26 experience even more special and giving me the opportunity to be part of this global supportive care community in Melbourne.

As a young oncologist from India, this recognition means a lot and serves as strong encouragement to continue contributing to supportive care, survivorship, and patient-centred oncology.

I was also grateful for the opportunity to present our work on “Socioeconomic Outcomes of Childhood Cancer Survivors in India”, based on our structured tertiary care Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program at AIIMS New Delhi. Through this work, we highlighted the educational disruption, financial hardship, and employment challenges faced by childhood cancer survivors; issues that are especially relevant in India and other LMIC settings.

I sincerely thank The Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) for this opportunity, and I am deeply grateful to Prof. Sameer Bakhshi, Atul Batra, Deepam Pushpam, Shuvadeep Ganguly and Archana Sasi for their guidance, support, and encouragement.”

Rahul Kumar concluded with:

“One of the most enriching parts of MASCC/ISOO 2026 Melbourne was the Mentorship and Networking Event.

It was a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, interact with mentors, and have meaningful conversations around supportive care, survivorship, oncology research, and global collaboration.

Grateful for the chance to connect and interact with Sonal Admane, Vikas Ostwal, and Boben Thomas during the mentorship networking session.

It was also special to catch up with colleagues and seniors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi and see strong representation from our institute at MASCC25.

For a young oncologist from India, these interactions mean a lot. Conferences like MASCC are not only about presenting work, but also about building mentorship, collaborations, and long-term academic relationships.

Grateful to be part of this supportive care community.”
