Rachel Chown: Advancing Surgical Oncology Through UK–Ukraine Partnership

Rachel Chown, Associate Director of Research and Innovation and Education at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Yesterday we were honoured to host Zubir Ahmed MP and his team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust as part of our ongoing collaboration with the National Cancer Institute of Ukraine (UNCI)

The minister spent time with our brilliant Christie surgeons, Omer Aziz and Paul Sutton, who are leading the education programme this week for our three visiting surgical colleagues from UNCI

We were delighted to work with the BBC, to see this important work covered on North West Tonight – highlighting the mutual benefits of this partnership between our countries and featuring Dr Jonathan Lim (from 5m14): https://lnkd.in/ezXPfy7h

A huge amount of work has gone into this project, and we are so grateful to our funders at Global Health Partnerships (formerly THET) and to the Department of Health and Social Care for their support and management of this programme within the International Medical Partnerships initiative

A big thank you to my wonderful international education team, Harry Ruxton Jenny Espin and Su S., and Rach Ryan at The Christie Institute for Cancer Education Manchester and to all our brilliant colleagues at UNCI, Kateryna Minko, Liubov Lisovska, Oleksii Dobrzhanskyi, Maryna Sokolovska, Arman Kacharian, Anna K and many more!

We look forward to rounding out this week with a visiting lecture from our Ukrainian surgical colleagues, and to our medical oncology visit in January.”
