Prisca Githuka: UICC Board Candidates Shared Their Visions During World Cancer Congress

Prisca Githuka, Executive Director at Pink Hearts Cancer Support Foundation, shared on LinkedIn:

“Campaigning for the UICC Board was at top gear during the World Cancer Congress, with candidates getting an opportunity to meet members, share their vision and sell their agenda.

I had the opportunity to interact with several candidates.

They are all impressive in their own ways, and I certainly don’t envy members the task of choosing the next Board.

One candidate I had a particularly good interaction with was Asem Mansour, MD , Director General and CEO of King Hussein Cancer Center, who is vying for UICC President-Elect 2026–2028.

Dr. Asem had reached out to me earlier on LinkedIn, and we agreed to meet in person in Hong Kong.

When we met, I challenged him to sell his agenda to me – pun intended!

He took up the challenge, and I must say, he has a great vision for the future of UICC.

It was good to listen, ask questions and have a candid conversation about the direction of the global cancer community.

Wishing Dr. Asem and all the other candidates the very best as members make this important choice.

The future of cancer control needs strong leadership, and it was encouraging to see so many committed people putting themselves forward to serve.”
